Why the Directory Exists
Old printed directories did not make modern Yonkers records disappear. They divided them among separate custodians. The City Assessment Department records parcel facts, the Westchester County Clerk maintains recorded land instruments, voter material has its own legal limits, and Yonkers Public Library holds historical volumes on site. A person tracing a name or address should not have to guess which office has the record. Yonkers Residents Directory identifies the available tools, contact routes, date ranges, and access boundaries.
What the Reference Includes
- Search paths: the street directory for address-keyed sources, the city directory for historical volumes, and the resident lookup for checking one documented association.
- Custodian routes: the assessment office, County Clerk, election authorities, court clerks, City Clerk, and the library's local-history collection.
- Research methods: ways to compare a parcel, recorded deed, dated directory entry, or court index without treating one result as final proof.
- Access limits: New York FOIL procedures, confidentiality rules, and the proper request route when a source is not online.
What We Cannot Provide
This is a privately operated reference, not a Yonkers office, Westchester County department, New York agency, court, or library. Its limits are clear:
- We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Yonkers
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot guarantee that every link, office detail, or collection date remains current at every moment
The relevant custodian alone can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Site material cannot be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
